HAPPY HANNUKAH, CHRISTMAS, KWANZAA, NEW YEAR'S, all of that!!

Not too much to let you know about right now - KDHX-TV has added two time slots for the Matt Sinopole Show - one at 11:30PM on Friday nights and one at 11:30PM on Saturday nights, so check it out, our third episode is showing right now and it's really well done.

We're on a little hiatus from the Matt Sinopole Show for the time being - I'm going to be locking myself in my house in order to write down some ideas that have been dwelling on the inside of my face for a while now - but I'm also going to be releasing two DVDs! The first, The Egg, is a compilation I have mentioned before; it should be out soon after the first of the year. The second will be the first two episodes of the Matt Sinopole Show, so if you have not been able to see them (either you are blind, don't live in St. Louis, or don't want to ever watch our show) NOW you'll be able to check it out. They will be on sale in various places in the St. Louis area but you can always e-mail me and we can figure out a way for you to get a copy or two, and the same goes for The Egg as well.

Have a good time, make some cookies. I'll be making blueberry pies.

12/4/03
Episode three of the Matt Sinopole Show has been slightly delayed due to illness, but it is shaping up to be the most bonkers show EVER.

We are finally on WPTV Westplex Television now, though.
If you subscribe to Charter cable in St. Charles county, you can see us on their public access channel - channel 18 - on Thursday nights at 10:30PM OR at 12:30AM Friday nights - technically Saturday mornings! We start with episode one this Friday night (again, early Saturday)!!

Finally, I have stumbled across some reviews of Liontown and a small mention of Grumboon on the web. Scroll down to the bottom of Liontown's and Grumboon's pages to see them!

11/20/03
We had a great show at the Tivoli theater last Sunday - the Baysayboos played a live accompaniment to Grumboon to cap off an afternoon of local short works. I want to thank everyone involved with that - Chris Clark, the Tivoli theater staff, Matt & Kristen Pace, Matt Frederick, Andy Struckhoff, Kelly Bryan, Peter Monahan, and the two new Baysayboos - Dana Smith and Angel Bates - both of whom did an excellent job (special nod to Angel for the end credits baseball organ remix)! Also, thanks to everyone who came out, whether or not you came to see us!!

The Matt Sinopole Show's third episode is entirely done with filming - it's in post production now and will probably be completed around Thanksgiving, so finally you will have something to actually give thanks to the Indians for.

I have also been talking to St. Peters about showing our show in St. Charles County - that should be happening really soon - I will let you know all the specifics as soon as it happens. As far as St. Louis, both the county and city will air our third episode and then repeat episodes one, two, and three so we can take a break and work on some other projects before our fourth episode.

Speaking of our show's schedule, we will hopefully have a new site design up pretty soon featuring a comprehensive show schedule so it will be easier to figure out when the Matt Sinopole Show is actually playing. This comes courtesy of donkeynorris industries - check their website so you can see what they're all about.

Only a couple days left to vote in our costume poll - please see http://rocknrollbacteria.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=29 to vote!!

Our compilation DVD, THE EGG, is almost ready to come out - we have a couple of promos made up that we gave out to the first folks who came to see Grumboon on Sunday - we're tightening up the DVD for the actual release. It has all the most badass films you could ever hope for - Grumboon, Liontown, Pizza the Movie, and Welcome to Editing. Not only that, but it will include a promo for the Matt Sinopole Show and an additional commentary track for Grumboon, featuring the score composer, Matt Pace of the Baysayboos! Extra special thanks to Suzanne Stockhausen, Justin Dicenzo, Matt Pace, Lorah Redington, and Erika Ritzel for their help with putting that whole thing together! I'll put up a page for it soon!

You can also see Liontown online now! Check out http://www.kdhxtv.org/library.php?show=gallery - it's KDHX-TV's new online short film gallery!

Finally, check this out - http://www.rocknrollbacteria.com/links/brendahampton.html - what the hell?? An old, old problem that I have been working on for three or four years - something my friend Jeff Headrick found while looking for John Hancock in the phone book. Hm.

11/5/03
It is extremely VITAL that you come down and check out GRUMBOON IN 3-D!!!!!

The Baysayboos will be playing the score LIVE at the Tivoli on November 16th, 12:00PM noon, as part of the 12th Annual St. Louis International Film Festival! Not only that, but the first 15 people to arrive at the theater with a ticket stub for the SLFS:Comedies screening will receive Rock N Roll Bacteria's first ever DVD compilation, which includes Grumboon, Liontown, and two bonus shorts - Pizza the Movie and Welcome to Editing!!! For ticket info please see http://www.cinemastlouis.org/main/festival/tickets.html

It's on next month!

First off, the Matt Sinopole Show is now showing on Thursday nights at 11:30PM on KDHX-TV - channel 22 for everyone in St. Louis City. At least, I think it's showing now. I don't know for sure if it will start showing this Thursday (10/23) or next Thursday (10/30). But whatever day they start, they will show episode one - which features Mike Stein (from Schweig Engel), the Whole Sick Crew, and Cubby Dish reviewing the wonderful Excelsior Club!! - and it will run for four weeks before changing to episode two.

Episode two will start airing on channel 18 in St. Louis County either on 10/24 or on Halloween!! (I know it's confusing - I will try and post legible schedule on our website soon!) This episode features special effects wizard Patrick Voss, a trip to the Fudgery, a musical onslaught from the Ottomen, and a new segment featuring two guys (Leon and Brad) as they travel around the St. Louis area and talk to people. For our second episode, Leon and Brad will be in Maplewood, talking about everything from baseball to the grocery strikes; from rock 'n' roll to the origins of egging cars. So please check it out!!

Episode three is underway, half of it is shot, we're feverishly editing away at it; I predict solid gold mustache status.

Also in November is the St. Louis International Film Festival!! Grumboon will be showing with other short films on Sunday, November 16th at noon at the Tivoli theater. I promised it would be a special showing and it will be because the Baysayboos will be performing the score live at the Tivoli!! Not only has the score to Grumboon never been performed live before, but the Baysayboos also have two new band members since the score was recorded, so it should be a volcanic eruption of holy cow.

Finally, we are working on putting out a DVD compilation of Rock N Roll Bacteria's short film & video projects. The DVD will feature Grumboon, Liontown, and two other short videos that have only screened once at the Grumboon Omnimax debut - Pizza the Movie and Welcome to Editing. This should be put together and in stores by the end of November, EXTREME details will follow.

10/9/03
Hey everyone!

Real quick: Just got word that the Matt Sinopole Show will start airing on KDHX-TV Television!! This is, of course, the public access channel for the city of St. Louis and is the sister of radio station KDHX 88.1FM.
Tonight, Thursday, October 9th, they're showing a special presentation of our show at 9:30PM. The regular schedule hasn't been set yet, but will be soon I'm sure; I'll let you know.

9/22/03
It's been damn near a month since we last updated.
But that's because so much cool stuff is developing that I wanted to deliver all at once - I apologize for any comas that may develop due to the excitement surrounding this update.

First of all, Grumboon is definitely going to be screening during the St. Louis International Film Festival - it's showing along with other shorts from the St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase at the Tivoli on Sunday, November 16th, at 1:00PM. We are working on something a little different, a once-in-a-lifetime sort of deal, for the screening - details will be forthcoming - but I want to let you know that if you think you've seen Grumboon...you ain't seen it like this.

But, our biggest announcement, the Matt Sinopole Show is debuting this weekend!
That's right - on Charter public access in St. Louis County (channel 18). It will show every week at 1:00AM late Friday night/early Saturday morning (however you want to look at it) following Tessa TV (whom Rock N Roll Bacteria Productions fully endorses as well). So please check it out, the first episode will repeat until Halloween, so don't miss out.

And please visit our message boards to let us know what you thought.

PEACE

8/31/03
Look here, just got back from the premiere of Surviving Dirk at Fort Gondo - Surviving Dirk being the debut feature film from Wolfgang Lehmkuhl and his Left South Productions AND the first feature I have ever edited. The attendance was select, made up of cast, crew, family, friends, etc., but it went over really well - hopefully it will be accepted into a film festival near you - it is unlike any feature you've ever seen. Actually, it kinda reminds me of Bones - you know, the Snoop Dogg horror film.

More importantly, Grumboon was rejected by six or seven film festivals in the past three weeks. But it did finally make it into the Boston Underground Film Festival - mainly because Grumboon tends to make people go ape.

Finally, the first episode of the Matt Sinopole Show has finally been completed!
Unfortunately, my hard drive decided I hadn't spent enough time on it and ate my project completely, about seven hours before I intended to print it to tape.
So, we've hit a little bump, but I am going to regroup, drop some heavy elbows, and complete the show (again) by mid-September.

Hey, tell your friends to sign up for our mailing lists!! Or, come to our message board and tell me what's goin on.

8/10/03 (part two)
Two developments have developed since I last updated - the most pressing of which is the fact that Grumboon has been accepted into the Tulsa Overground Film Festival!! The reason this is pressing is because the festival takes place August 16th & 17th, seven days from now. I highly recommend going to this festival; I went the past two years and they have some of the best short films I've ever seen - including footage found when one of the organizers bought some unmarked VHS tapes at a thrift store.

The other development is our new message board - this is a good way for people that come here to communicate, tell each other how much they hate our logo, post some funny links, outweird each other, etc. It has been added to our links above, so check it out - you have to register in order to post messages, but if you want to wimp out, you can read the messages registration free!

8/10/03
Sorry for the lack of updates recently, we have been putting the pedal to the metal on our first episode of the Matt Sinopole Show - I know it really doesn't seem like it, if you check our archives, you'll find out we promised to deliver by the end of June. So, even though my promises have been proven to be worthless, I am nevertheless promising it will be finished by the end of this month, and I will go so far as to say that the 2nd show may be finished around then as well. As for when it will air, well, we don't know that ourselves yet, but this will be the first place to find out.

Liontown is featured on a new release from Wicked Pixel Cinema - The Severed Head Network Compilation - only available on DVD! This compilation combines the best shorts from volumes 1 & 2 from their Severed Head Network releases, and we are honored to have Liontown featured on it.

Don't forget to mark your calendars for the St. Louis International Film Festival - November 13th through the 23rd. I don't know exactly when Grumboon will be screening, but I am going to try my hardest to give you all something a little different and a little special, so don't miss out!! And, of course, our good friend Ryan Samul's film, Matthew and the Dead Body, will be screening as well, featuring Matt Sinopole in a cameo and Suzanne Stockhausen as the narrator.

Speaking of Matthew and the Dead Body, we came across this review of the 2003 St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase and, more specifically, Matthew and the Dead Body. It is an extremely misleading review, in regards to the showcase itself. It has nice things to say about Matthew and the Dead Body but it completely knocks off the complete showcase as a waste of moviegoers time, even though the author admits he only saw three out of FOURTEEN programs. Here's an example of the author's fine, fine writing skills:

And finally, wrapping up the three worst films from Program Three, was Agustin "Froggy" Gonzalez's My 2 Faces, which generally sucked, as one would expect, but on top of generally sucking, he used the score from Amelie, for fuck's sake, which is never a good idea, as it is instantly recognizable to anyone who has seen Amelie, and makes Froggy look like an asshole for thinking his shit film deserved music that good. In the credits to Faces, in lieu of giving credit where credit is due, Froggy wrote, "Sorry, I don't have the names of all of the songs." Well I do, stupid, and I suspect that you do, too; they're on the back of the CD.

Nice work with the analysis, genius. It "generally sucked". Well, crap, I'm always going to listen to a reviewer who makes such a clear-cut, solid point as this one.

Normally, I wouldn't bother with criticizing a review such as this one. I appreciate an honest review, negative or not, and, with that said, I applaud Pete's honesty and bravery to negatively critique a local festival "on the record". But, his validity as a writer is completely thrown out the window when he says "I was too enraptured by how much it didn't suck to take good notes on how it accomplished this..." - and, of course, I understand the fact that he probably didn't have the room to completely analyze each short film frame by frame, but my point is, why write a review of an entire festival that's purpose is to dissuade the public from supporting local filmmakers by offering up one-sentence "critiques" on how much you thought something "sucked", especially considering you saw less than 25% of the entire event. I wrote better book reports in third grade. Cinema St. Louis is providing a forum for local, beginning filmmakers to show their work. How about writing a negative review of a high school dance recital instead? Most of everyone in the showcase is learning, it's meant to be fun, go to the International Film Festival, tell me how much those films "suck".

Go to http://www.playbackstl.com/Current/NP/stlfilmakers.htm to read the whole review.

7/17/03
I am very pleased to let you all know that Grumboon is the recipient of the 2003 St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase Audience Award.
An extremely scientific poll was put up by Adam Hackbarth (who runs the STLFilmWire website) and Grumboon ended up on top.
So thank you to everyone who voted for us and my deepest gratitude goes out to everyone in the cast & crew and also the other people who have supplied plentiful moral support. Rock N Roll Bacteria Productions is extremely grateful, always humble, also hungry a lot, but it's cool.

In addition to this honor, Grumboon has also been accepted into the Gimli Film Festival, taking place in Gimli, Manitoba, Canada (about an hour north of Winnipeg) from July 30th through August 4th.

New to the website - we welcome a new member to our ranks - Suzanne Stockhausen!
She has been involved with every major Rock N Roll Bacteria production since the beginning. In Liontown, she tugged at your heart as the worn-out, under-appreciated lamb housewife. She took on a much bigger role (actually, two much bigger roles) in Grumboon as the production designer and costume designer. I think we can all figure out now why those cavemen ran around in g-strings made of raffia and rocks. Finally, with the Matt Sinopole Show, she has taken on even more responsibilities as a writer and producer in addition to production design and acting.
So, there you have it. Simply put, football sucks compared to her.

Speaking of the Matt Sinopole Show, shooting is completed for the first (and second?) show, editing is 90% for the first and 50% for the second, so you should be hearing about an air date real soon - for now, we got a bunch more information for you at the show's webpage.

7/4/03 - INDEPENDENCE DAY
Yet another holiday update...

A while ago I promised to post pictures from Anthony's and mine's trip to New Jersey/New York City. Click here to finally check those bad boys out.

Old business aside, I want to shout out St. Louis for quality's sake.

And, holy hot crap, I went to the St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase this past week and I was thoroughly impressed by most of the work I saw. Standouts for me were:

A Lecture On Jazz And How To Keep Aliens From Stealing You
Gaslight Square: The Forgotten Landmark
Gus
Weaving Bitter With The Sweet
and, the only locally produced narrative feature, Amphetamine!

But I didn't see everything, and I don't want to give the impression that I didn't like anything not listed above, these were just pieces that presented something new to me, and they were all very well done. There were many more pieces that I liked, admittedly there were a few that I hated, but, for the most part, the St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase was a huge success, and all the films I went to see were fairly well attended.

Of course, Grumboon and Matthew and the Dead Body showed there, both of which we at Rock N Roll Bacteria had, at least, a little something to do with, and both of which were selected to screen in the St. Louis International Film Festival, happening November 13th through the 23rd! If you missed either one, crap!!

In addition, Grumboon was also chosen for the Hertfordshire International Film Festival - happening October 4th and 5th. Take the Chunnel over to Great Britain and eat popcorn while our European debut unfolds around you. If you don't want to take the Chunnel, don't even bother.

6/22/03
Just a very short update...

I have updated my own personal page to include my resume and editing reel. I have acquired my own Final Cut Pro editing system and want to make myself more available for freelance work.

SO, if you need an editor, check out my reel and resume, let me know what you think. I do work full-time as an editor for Drury Outdoors right now, so my time is limited to nights and weekends, contact me, we'll figure out something we can do!

6/16/03 - FATHER'S DAY (well, a day late)
We seem to be spiraling into an unstoppable holiday update pattern, but this one is dedicated especially to my father - he's a heck of a guy, works at Boeing but reads Michael Moore - he's taking on the man from the inside out. His birthday is July 4th; mine is on September 11th; something very patriotic about all that.

Holy moly!! - it's been a minute since I updated this website - let me fill you in on what's goin down.

Maybe you saw it, maybe you didn't, but in the Everyday section of Friday's (?) Post-Dispatch, on the cover was a story about Ryan Samul, who, as you may know, was responsible for all the cinematography on both Grumboon and Liontown. The article has since been taken down, but it kicked ass.

Speaking of Ryan Samul, his directorial debut, Matthew and the Dead Body, will be playing with the St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase on June 28th, Saturday, at 7:00PM. Check out Cinema St. Louis's website for ticketing information - PLEASE come and support us, we surely appreciate it.

I say "we" because Grumboon will be showing as part of the showcase as well, on Wednesday, June 25th, at 7:00PM. If you have not yet seen it, or if you know folks who haven't seen it, then GO TO THE SCREENING.

Also, this Friday, Grumboon will be showing in the Oxford (Mississippi) Film Festival, only six hours away from the STL!!

As far as the Matt Sinopole Show is concerned, we are nearly there, but, as always, not completely yet. We plan on finishing up the first episode by the end of the month, and may perhaps have a viewing party that I'll be sure to let you know about.
On the first show will be an interview with Mike Stein (of Schweig Engel fame) and a performance by the Whole Sick Crew (who were nominated for two music awards by the Riverfront Times. Trust me, the show is worth the wait.

A couple updates ago, I mentioned that Bobbie Lautenschlager had done an interview with me for a public access show called Behind the Lens (which shows a short film, then an interview with the filmmaker. Well, the schedule has been released - each show will run for two weeks, starting July 1st, and will be shown eight times. The show airs on KDHX-TV on Tuesdays at 7:30pm, Thursdays at 1:00pm, Fridays at 8:30pm, and Sundays at 4:30pm. I believe Liontown will be featured on the 2nd show, so I guess that would air from July 15th through the 27th, so check it out.

Finally, rumor has it that Wicked Pixel Cinema is about to release a DVD which contains the best shorts from their VHS releases, Severed Head Network Volumes One and Two. Well, Liontown is to be included on this DVD "best of the best" compilation, so keep checking back here, I'll let you know when they become available to purchase.

Here is the picture that ran with the Ryan Samul article in the Everyday section. He is certainly a triple threat.

Anyways, that's all for now - I will be putting up more completely mind-boggling web pages up on the site in the next couple of weeks, just keep checking back, make sure your friends know that our website exudes authority and it's always right on schedule.

5/26/03 - MEMORIAL DAY
Have you guys seen the Riverfront Times lately?
They're in the midst of their Music Awards and several Rock N Roll Bacteria friends are up to bat.

First and foremost, the Bay Say Boos are up for best group in the Uncategorizable/Eclectic spot. Of course you know this, but they did the delicate soundtrack that accompanies our film, Grumboon. If you went to their CD release party, you know they can totally rock you into a coma, so don't front on them, sir.

Other nominated friends include the Whole Sick Crew. They are one of the bands that will be featured on the STILL upcoming Matt Sinopole Show. They are up for best New band and also best Punk band, so don't just talk about it, be about it.
There are a couple of hip hop acts that are nominated. It'll be hard to choose, all of them are completely off the chain and all of them performed benefit concerts to raise money for Grumboon.
First, Jonathan Toth From Hoth's album, Brainwashing: The Art of Hip-Hopera is up for Recording of the Year, so congratulations to him.
In the Rap DJ category, both Agile 1 AND Crucial are nominated, sorta like choosing between pizza and a limo ride, you should be able to pick both, but since you can't....what can you do?
Finally, for best Alternative/Underground Hip Hop, is Altered St8s of Consciousness; they have been performing for a long time and they have been staunch supporters of all forms of St. Louis art, you should have heard of them, if not, you seem like you may have a huge problem.
And last of all, for best Garage, the Electric are up for an award - I did a project back in the day with one of the members, and I would guarantee them to be an intelligent vote to make.

----

Otherwise, things are gearing up for the Matt Sinopole Show. We are nearing completion on the first two shows, but we plan to do one a month after that, and, thusly, we need all kinds of artists, directors, camera people, writers, costumers, editors, etc....interested? aaron@rocknrollbacteria.com

We are screening Grumboon in the Santa Cruz Film Festival next Tuesday. I'll see you guys there for sure and then, after that, Friday, June 20th, we're showing in the Oxford Film Festival. Come out and show love.

5/11/03 - MOTHER'S DAY
This update is especially dedicated to my mama; she is a very extraordinary mom - besides all the love and support she's given me, she also makes exquisite jewelry that you all should know about. Her company Stranded Glass is making power moves - get yours right now!!

Anyways, there's a few things to talk about this time around:

First off, last night was the Bay Say Boos CD release party at the City Museum; what a freakin great place. I strained my elbow in an arm wrestling contest, so I was unable to climb around the museum as much as I'd like, but it's St. Louis's funnest place to go. ESPECIALLY when Purgatory News, Julia Sets, and the Bay Say Boos are playing! Our screening didn't go too bad either; we had a nice turnout at Beatnik Bob's on the City Museum's third floor. Anyone who missed it, shut up.

In Grumboon news, we have found out we have been accepted into TWO more festivals!
The first is the Oxford Film Festival, down in Oxford, Mississippi. It runs from June 19th until the 22nd - Oxford is only 6 hours from St. Louis; who wants to go?!!

If you miss that one, you got another chance; Cinema St. Louis released the schedule for the Third Annual St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase and Grumboon is showing opening night!! Wednesday, June 25th, 7:00PM, at the Des Lee Auditorium on the lower level of the Emerson Center at the Missouri Historical Society. You should definitely check that out and, in addition to that, Ryan Samul has a film showing in the showcase as well. You have seen Ryan Samul's work as cinematographer for both Liontown and Grumboon (as well as plenty of other films shot around St. Louis). But you'll want to check him out as a director with his new film, Matthew and the Dead Body, showing at the showcase on Saturday, June 28th, at 7:00PM. Aaron helped out as an assistant director for one or two shoots and Matt is featured in a cameo role. There is no reason to not go. No more excuses.

5/4/03
At the City Museum on May 10th, you undoubtedly know that the Bay Say Boos, the superstars (!), will be releasing their debut CD with a concert featuring Julia Sets, Eileen Gannon & Friends, and, of course, the Bay Say Boos! BUT you probably did not know that both Liontown and Grumboon will be screening after the concert, before the reception! You get this entire show PLUS admission to the City Museum for only five freaking dollars!! PLEASE come out, especially if you have never seen any of these bands or films before, they are top notch, guaranteed. If you show up at seven p.m., you will see the whole show.

4/25/03
Last night, Aaron was interviewed on a BRAND NEW public access show called Behind the Lens (with Bobbie Lautenschlager) for KDHX-TV - this is a show featuring local short film directors. First, they show the film, then they talk about it. I really want you to watch it. It will be on public access in the city, so, if you don't live in the city, move there, get cable, and watch me talk about myself on it. I talking gold here.
Also, this week, Grumboon was accepted into the Santa Cruz Film Festival, which runs from May 29th through June 6th this year, so, after you have moved into the city and ordered cable, take a trip out there and support our latest film.
Finally, I just wanted to make sure you keep coming back to our website here. We are going to start up a message board and mailing list so people can drop all kinds of smart information on the boards and relax with regular news updates e-mailed to their own personal e-mail account. All you gotta do is come back once all this is assembled and you are on your way to discovering how much power Rock N Roll Bacteria Productions really has. Definitely do that, or definitely e-mail me and let me know that you want to be down with our e-mail list. We'll still keep updates posted here, of course, but yeah.

4/19/03
Anthony and Aaron recently tore it up on the East Coast with our affiliate, East Coast Ivan at the Garden State Film Festival in beautiful Asbury Park, New Jersey.
Grumboon showed along with several other short works. We visited a Shaolin temple in Manhattan. It was on the third floor.
Soon, I will put up some photos from the trip.
I notice the east coast seems to appreciate us more than other regions.
For example, please direct your attention to Columbia, SC and the Beg and Grovel Film Festival where Grumboon will show at 3:00p.m. on Saturday, April 26th. If anyone wants me to go to the film festival with them, I say, "i will, if you will pay for me to accompany you" and i will say "that's a gracious offer". Gracious offers go here.
I've had my new e-mail address which includes my real first name and my production company name for a while now - no one has ever sent an e-mail to it. This makes me crabby.

Check out this picture of East Coast Ivan. He's better than YOUR east coast friends.

Finally, the Bay Say Boos - the baby geniuses that scored Grumboon are releasing a new album on May 10th at their CD release party at the City Museum so there will be no mercy for those who do not show up!!
